FREE Web-based Course - Ethical Use of Computers and Databases

Computers and databases have increased efficiency in law enforcement by making tasks less time-consuming. However, instances of law enforcement officers misusing computers and databases are becoming more prevalent.

On June 1, 2013, the League of Minnesota Cities Insurance Trust (LMCIT) will make available a web-based course addressing the "Ethical Use of Computers and Databases" through its online training program Peace officer Accredited TRaining OnLine (PATROL). This course is approved for one POST credit and will provide officers with the information necessary to use computers and law enforcement databases without running afoul of state or federal laws or department policies.

This course will be available June 1, 2013, for both PATROL members and nonmembers.

For questions regarding the program, contact Laura Honeck at lhoneck@lmc.org or (651) 281-1280

If you need immediate assistance with PATROL, please call 800-261-6248 or email info@smarthorizons.org.
